The route to Meall Glas (959 m) and Sgiath Chuil (921 m) from Glen Dochart is a long, committing hill day typically starting near Auchessan on the A85, following an estate track before branching onto rough, often boggy moorland with intermittent and sometimes faint paths. The ascent of Sgiath Chuil involves wet ground and steady climbing with improving views, while the traverse toward Meall Glas requires a notable descent into the Lairig a’ Churain followed by a sustained re-ascent on grassy, pathless slopes. Underfoot conditions are frequently uneven and damp even in summer, navigation can be testing in poor visibility, and the full circuit is roughly 15–16 km with around 1,150–1,200 m of ascent, making it a demanding outing that becomes considerably more serious in winter conditions.
